Old Hampshire Designs has been a representative of Timberpeg, an internationally leading timber framing company since 1984. Setting the standard for quality design and construction, Timberpeg homes are based on a modular system of engineering with many basic designs that can be easily adapted to meet your site and lifestyle needs. Old Hampshire Designs will work with you to custom design the ideal structure for your objectives. For more information about Timberpeg construction, visit timberpeg.com.

We’ve earned our reputation by designing and constructing award-winning conventional homes for 30 years. Regardless of the style you choose, we’re committed to quality craftsmanship and excellent customer service. We are a leader in green building practices and energy-efficient design. We handle everything from start to finish and our service often continues beyond the traditional warranty to ensure that our customers are completely satisfied.

By definition, hybrid homes combine the best of both conventional and timber frame construction methods and the design options are endless. Hybrid new home construction is a cost-effective way to highlight distinctive craftsmanship in specific areas best suited for showcasing architectural detail such as in a great room. A spectacular timberframed addition is also a popular way to add value, openness, light and beauty to any conventional structure.

We enjoy working with our commercial clients who often want energy efficient, comfortable, professional environments for their employees that will also make a favorable impression on their own customers. At Old Hampshire Designs we view all of our customized design/build projects as an opportunity to build on what we do best: establish lasting relationships with our clients that match the integrity of our buildings.
Recently Old Hampshire Designs was featured in NH Home Magazine: The Face of Custom Home Building.
The scheduling of crews was most efficiently productive and totally accommodated our personal needs and wishes. The crews were dependable to a full work day schedule as they were precise to the smallest detail of skillful performance. Their attention to detail was also observed in their clean up at the end of each work day. It was very easy for us to enjoy the process of transition in the new area as we passed through to our original living area. This attention to detail also left us with a strong impression of their pride and integrity in their work.
I have had the distinct pleasure of knowing the Old Hampshire Designs team both personally and professionally for over 25 years. They designed and built my traditionally-framed home as well as my detached Timberpeg garage. Additionally, I’ve worked with Old Hampshire Designs extensively as one of the founding members of the Baker Hill Golf Club in Newbury, NH which showcases a post and beam Pro Shop and half-way house designed and built by Old Hampshire Designs. I cannot speak highly enough of the entire Old Hampshire Designs team.
Old Hampshire Designs built our custom designed home following the architect’s plans. Old Hampshire Designs pays close attention to details, giving great concern to the finished product and has an excellent team of craftsmen. Their service and caring for the finished product lasts long after the home has been completed.
We hired Old Hampshire Designs to build our timber frame home. They were recommended by our architect, and once we had met with them and seen other homes they had built, we knew they were the best choice. The quality of the work was extraordinary, down to the last sub-contractor.
I chose Old Hampshire Designs, Inc. as our builder after contacting several other builders for our unique, Chris Williams designed vacation home. From our first contact Jay Tucker and Bill Andrews were as excited over our plans as I was. As a home builder in the Washington, DC area, I instantly recognized their expertise as well as their confidence and honesty.
It is with great appreciation that we write this letter to you. We were totally pleased with all aspects of the remodeling and addition that your project manager, Rick Flint, and his various crews provided to our home in 2008. The design challenges were met in the planning stages and also on the day to day variations that did arise.
We have been working with Old Hampshire Designs for about 4 years now. They completely renovated our lakeside cabin. The work was meticulous and their subs (painter, plumber, electrician, etc.) all worked seamlessly. Much of the work was design build. Since then, they have completed several jobs for us at another house including a room renovation over a garage with heating and AC, replacing a well and many small projects that have come up.
With over 100 Timberpeg homes built, their knowledge and expertise of designing and building timber frame homes is superb and the feedback we receive from their customers is consistently positive. We’re honored to have them representing the Timberpeg brand.
They are professionals of the highest quality. They were always willing to listen, but not hesitant to state a professional opinion, even if I differed from what we (thought) we wanted. They have continued to be available for questions and follow up on any aspect related to the project…truly a lasting relationship.
Since these are our vacation homes, we rely on honest, hardworking contractors to complete work we cannot be there to oversee. They are very responsive, complete the work in a timely manner at a reasonable rate. We have been very happy with Old Hampshire Designs.
Their workmanship and contractors are the finest. Jay Tucker and his associates are professional, easy to work with and readily available.
Our beautiful home was built on time and on budget. Their solutions to building issues and suggested value engineering as well as enhancements were invaluable.
As a design/build firm Old Hampshire Designs coordinates directly with you throughout the entire building process. We begin by offering you a no obligation initial review of your site by one of our designers. The next step involves creating conceptual sketches. During the design phase we work with you to determine your goals, develop a budget and create your customized plans complete with construction specifications. We then acquire the permits, manage the subcontractors and billing, and construct the home. The integrated design/build collaborative is a proven construction approach that results in a highly efficient and seamless transition from initial concept to completion.
If you’re already working with your own architect or designer, we also enjoy working exclusively as a General Contractor. We are available for renovation consultations and commercial construction. Our skill set and expertise results in projects that successfully stay within the budget and timeframe that you choose. Please let us know if you have any specific questions about this process, we are here to help.
Our approach to green building starts with common sense. Basic principles, such as siting the house to take advantage of passive solar gain, proper insulation and ventilation, and using the right windows, can make a huge difference in your home’s energy efficiency and impact on the environment. We also work with a LEED-certified architect and are a proud member of the New Hampshire Green Building Council. We’ll work with you to develop a green building plan that meets both your needs and budget.

Old Hampshire Designs is an Energy Star Partner and green building begins well before we break ground on your new home. Whether your home is conventionally framed, timber framed or a hybrid of the two, we can provide you with FSC-certified wood, grown in well-managed forests as certified by the Forest Stewardship Council. Timperpeg®’s factory cut frames from FSC-certified Douglas fir or eastern white pine grown here in the northeast, plus their Structural Insulated Panel (SIP’s) system of construction minimizes waste. As a building material, wood is a renewable resource, grown without artificial energy, and endures for generations. It is also important that our suppliers share the same commitment to sustainable practices and we seek out individuals and businesses that work towards green building.
All Timberpeg homes exceed Energy Star ratings, and we can custom design your home to go up to the level of green that’s right for you. Technology has made former cost-prohibitive energy improvements, such as closed-cell insulation and solar voltaic shingles, more affordable than ever before. But it’s also important to understand which technologies make sense for your lifestyle and budget before you invest. We’ve been building “green” since we began in 1984, and can help you explore your green options to both reduce energy dependence and create a safe, healthy home.
